Victoria Beckham reveals ‘most romantic thing’ David has ever done
Victoria Beckham has offered fans a glimpse inside her romantic 2006 wedding vow renewal with David Beckham.
The Spice Girls star, 49, started dating the former Manchester United player, 48, in 1997 and they first married in July 1999 in a lavish ceremony in Ireland.
In 2006, the famous pair renewed their vows and then had a romantic trip away to Paris, organised by David and a total surprise for Victoria.
The fashion designer – who is promoting her first fragrance – has been reminiscing on the occasion, sharing a previously unseen snap for her millions of followers to enjoy.
Taking to social media, the mum-of-four revealed that her fragrance, Suite 302, was inspired by her and David’s ‘love affair with Paris’.
Recalling how her hubby whisked her away from London to the French capital over 20 years ago, she described their vow renewal as a ‘whirlwind’.
‘This really, really takes me back,’ she said in a video about her perfume. ‘I would almost say that this fragrance is a tribute to mine and David’s love affair with Paris.’
‘In the 90s, we would often sneak away to Paris, just the two of us, we would stay at the Hotel Costes,’ she shared.
‘I remember the heavy velvet drapes, the dark, sexy rooms, and how that smelled. It was quite heavy, but it was sexy.’
‘But when we lived in Spain, we dropped the kids off at school one morning, I was in a tracksuit… yeah, I was in a tracksuit!’, Victoria joked. ‘And he was in a tracksuit as well.’
She recounted: ‘David said to me, “I’m gonna take you somewhere for the day.” So, we drive to the airport, we get on a private plane, halfway through the flight, David goes into the bathroom and he comes out in a tuxedo, looking so handsome. And he said, “There’s something for you to put on in the bathroom.”
‘I go into the bathroom and there was a white dress hanging up, so I put it on, I put some make-up on, I sit down in my seat, then the plane lands in London, I get off and there is the chauffeur driven car that drove us to our wedding all those years ago, the same car, the same driver.’
David then took Victoria to their old house in North London where they had a little chapel on the grounds.
‘He’s covered the whole chapel with flowers, my parents were there, his parents were there, and our sisters and my brother, and we had the vicar who married us remarry us,’ Victoria shared.
‘I genuinely had no idea. It was the most romantic thing that he’s ever done.’
Victoria then explained how David took her back to the airport and they got back on their private jet.
‘I’ve no idea where we’re going again,’ she said. ‘And we land in Paris and we had a mini honeymoon that was literally 24 hours long. We stayed at the Ritz, Suite 302.’
Talk about dreamy!
Later on Instagram, Victoria posted a picture of the dress that she wore for the surprise ceremony.
Posing in the chapel entrance, the pop star looked gorgeous in a Roberto Cavalli frock.
At the time she had longer hair that was brunette with blonde highlights.
Of course, the Beckhams are still going strong in their marriage to this day and they now share children Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18, and Harper, 12.
That’s not to say their relationship has been plain sailing, though.
Most recently, David’s alleged affair with Rebecca Loos hit the headlines once again thanks to his Netflix documentary, BECKHAM, which revisits the highs and lows of his personal life and footie career.
Former TV star Rebecca worked as David’s personal assistant, and in 2004 she was splashed across the tabloids with the claim that she and the athlete were a thing.
She told Sky at the time Becks was an ‘amazing lover’ and that they ‘couldn’t keep their hands off each other’.
Meanwhile, David has always denied the scandalous rumours, branding them ‘ludicrous’.
