There’s magic in David Beckham’s bracelet (you heard)

Revealed as the latest ambassador for Togetherband’s ethical bracelet campaign, David Beckham is spreading the word on harsh living conditions for children. Here’s all you need to know and how you can get involved

Bracelets for men are tricky things. How, for instance, does a man don on-wrist accessories without looking like a blinged-up tack-meister? The place to start is with a simple mantra: less is more. And if it’s a sustainable design with an effective goal behind it, well, even better. So our latest point of bracelet call for September? Togetherband’s ethical designs, most recently backed by David Beckham.

Kickstarted in 2015, the project has 17 ethically produced friendship bands, each representative of a different goal that’s been set to move towards a better planet. As the latest ambassador for the movement, Beckham is wearing Goal 3: a bright green woven bracelet made from up-cycled ocean plastic that stands for “good health and wellbeing”. Shot by Matthew Brookes, Beckham’s campaign shows him sporting two of the bracelets, which he’s said to be sharing with his son Brooklyn and LeBron James.

The main intention of Goal 3 is to help spread the word about living conditions for children in less fortunate parts of the world. So the profits made from two bracelets (one of which is to be shared with a person of your choice) will go towards life-changing projects for these individuals. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Beckham’s on board – he’s been a Unicef goodwill ambassador for the past 14 years and in 2015 launched his own Unicef fund to protect millions of children around the world.

Speaking of his latest campaign, Beckham says, “Our kids are the future and I really believe children all over the world should have access to healthcare and be able to live a healthy lifestyle. I’m proud to be a part of this campaign and I support this goal.”
