Sydney Sweeney Can’t Afford L.A. Lifestyle, Details What She Does To Keep Up!

Sydney Sweeney is one of young Hollywood’s biggest stars. She is on a hit show on HBO and steadily picks up work so why is the young actress so stressed about money? In a cover story for The Hollywood Reporter, Sweeney got candid about all her success but the inability to afford the L.A life.

The Euphoria actress shockingly shared that being an “it”girl in Hollywood means nothing. She doesn’t have the money to show for all the hard, steady work she has put in the last several years. “I want to have a family, I’ve always wanted to be a young mom, and I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light,” she admits.

Beyond that, she worries about what it would cost to start a family. “I was worried that, if I don’t work, there is no money and no support for kids I would have,” Sweeney admits that she is in a unique situation, in fact, better than most she can negotiate her salary but that doesn’t mean it is enough.

Unfortunately, being able to negotiate your salary isn’t anything to brag about when the salary isn’t even enough to maintain your lifestyle or get you a vacation every now and again. “If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that,” she admits. “I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help.”

She acknowledges that she has appeared in many roles but she can’t get ahead of the rising expenses.

The White Lotus actress knows she sounds ridiculous but insisted on sharing how her salary is broken down to prove that actors don’t get paid like back in the day. “They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals,” she shared.

For Sweeney, specifically,  “The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.”

The actress points out that she has had to resort to side gigs or as they are professionally called, endorsements, in order to live (and stay alive) in the golden city of dreams. Her reason for being so candid about her personal finances is so fans don’t believe the hype around social media posts.

Acting Isn’t Paying The Bills

To put it bluntly, Sweeney admits that acting is not what allows for her lifestyle. “If I just acted, I wouldn’t be able to afford my life in L.A. I take deals because I have to.” So all those fun-looking campaigns that Sweeney’s face is plastered across like Miu Miu, Laneige, and Tory Burch are out of necessity.

She admits the hard work paid off, she was able to purchase a home in L.A. But the excitement was short-lived because she couldn’t afford to live in a gated community and now fans pass by her home all day long.

The TikTok trend prompted the actress to address the issue. “I couldn’t believe I was even able to buy a house, I want to be able to stay there.”
