It has been a trying few years as she has battled illness and attacks from body shamers.

But as she is on vacation with her new album just days away from release, things certainly seem to be looking up for Selena Gomez.

The 27-year-old pop megastar was recently seen donning a green bikini as she laid out on the deck of a luxury yacht off the coast of Hawaii.

No doubt she deserves some rest and relaxation as she has completed work on her third-studio album, titled Rare, as it is set for release next week.

She certainly seemed to be in good spirits as she laid out next to a gal pal while tanning on board of the extravagant watercraft.

Selena sported an olive green bikini featuring a sport top and high-waisted bottoms.

Her brunette tresses were worn down in messy waves as she showcased her natural looks by going make-up free.

Earlier in the day she was seen covered up in a sheer white dress over her swimwear along with a matching hair wrap.

It is good to see Selena in such high spirits after she recently opened up about the effects body shamers have had on her during an appearance on Raquelle Stevens’ video podcast Giving Back Generation from back in September.

During the chat, the pop star admitted that the ‘attacks’ really ‘messed’ her up.

The Wolves hitmaker, who revealed her diagnosis in 2015, explained: ‘I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues, and for me that’s when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff.’

Selena credited a combination of her condition, medications and other health factors for her weight fluctuation.

‘It’s the medication I have to take for the rest of my life — it depends on even the month, to be honest,’ she said of her weight.

Still, some people criticized the star’s body.

‘So for me, I really noticed when people started attacking me for [gaining weight]. And in reality, that’s just my truth. I fluctuate. It depends what’s happening in my life.’

It was hard not to be affected by the comments, however.

‘That got to me big time. That really messed me up for a bit,’ she admitted.

But she’s tried to rise about the negativity.

‘I don’t care to expose myself to everyone and hear what they have to say about it,’ she told her podcaster friend.

 The Lose You To Love Me singer announced she had undergone kidney transplant in September 2017 due to complications from lupus.

Her new kidney was donated by friend Francia Raisa, who Selena thanked in the announcement.

‘There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,’ said Gomez. ‘She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.’

Selena previously was in a long-term off and on relationship with Justin Bieber from 2010 until 2018, months before he married Hailey Baldwin Bieber.

It has not been an easy few months for Selena as she reportedly suffered a ‘panic attack’ before taking the stage at the American Music Awards back in November nearly two years since her last live performance.

The star was ‘putting a lot of pressure on herself’ ahead of her return to the stage as the opener of the show at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday night, according to E! News.

 ‘Selena definitely had anxiety and a panic attack before she went out and was putting a lot of pressure on herself,’ a source reported.

Fans were somewhat concerned during her performance as she ‘appeared overcome with emotion’ while on stage.

She performed emotional and personal songs Lose You To Love Me and Look At Her Now as she hadn’t seen the bright lights of the AMAs since 2017.

Those tracks can be heard on her new album – titled Rare – which is set for release next Friday, January 10.

She revealed the Rare album artwork to Instagram on December 13th, along with a teaser trailer that put fans in a frenzy.

The post read: ‘Can’t believe I’m revealing the art and title for my new album RARE, out January 10th. It’s the most honest music I’ve ever made and I can’t wait for you to hear my heart.’

In the trailer, fans got to see behind-the-scenes footage of Selena in the studio working alongside rapper Kid Cudi and singer-songwriter Julia Michaels, among clips taken from her music videos for Look At Her Now and Lose You To Love Me.
