Selena Gomez sends fans WILD as she returns to music with her new track Single Soon after slipping into a pink mini dress for racy video: ‘She’s come back with a f*****g bop!’
Selena Gomez has sent her fans into a frenzy after releasing her new solo track Single Soon on Friday.
The singer, 31, released the video for the song on Thursday night, where she sparkled in a shimmering pink mini dress while dancing the night away with friends and celebrating singlehood.
Selena had only released one solo track in the last three years while appearing on a slew of collaborative songs, including the global megahit Calm Down (Remix) with Nigerian superstar Rema.
So it was no surprise that fans went wild over the release, with one gushing it was ‘heartwarming’ to see her so ‘carefree, happy and confident’ after a slew of personal struggles.
One wrote: ‘Selena Gomez just came back with a f*****g bop AND she looks so amazing. I’m obsessed.’
Another added: ‘Amazingly gorgeous Selena has done it again! @selenagomez yes! I love it beautiful! May God continue to bless you me love! You have so many attributes ur amazing!’
A fan branded the track a ‘song of the year,’ while one user added: ‘After everything she’s been through seeing her so carefree, happy and confident is heartwarming. I love you forever @selenagomez thank you for your music and for being such an inspiration.’
‘Today is my birthday and my favourite artist @selenagomez released a new song I think it’s for me thank you,’ one user shared.
In the video, Selena proudly showcased her single status in a sparkling pink mini dress, celebrating being unattached by dancing the night away.
‘I’m pickin’ out this dress / Tryin’ on these shoes / ‘Cause I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon / I know he’ll be a mess / When I break the news / But I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon,’ the star sings in the chorus.
The start of the video featured a voice message from her sister Gracie Teefey, who can be heard saying: ‘Hi. Love you, sissy. Never worry about boyfriends,’ as Selena is pictured trying to sneak out of her significant other’s apartment.
In a cheeky nod to the iconic Sex And The City breakup, she leaves a post-it note that reads: ‘I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me.’
‘Maybe I’ll just disappear/ I don’t wanna see a tear/ And the weekend’s almost here,’ she adds.
After she gets back home, the star begins picking out a sizzling outfit for her night out with friends.
She lands on a sexy pink mini dress, matching platform heels and a purple fuzzy jacket.
In the next scene Selena is pictured waiting for her friends to arrive, as she sings, ‘I’ma date who I wanna/ Stay out late if I wanna/ I’ma do what I wanna do.’
The girls enjoy a round of drinks before getting into a limo and driving to a club.
‘I know I’m a little high maintenance/ But I’m worth a try,’ she sings, before warning a potential mate that she might not give them a reason why after she breaks up with them.
‘Oh well/ We both had a lot of fun/ Time to find another one/ Blame it all on feelin’ young,’ she playfully adds.
The gal pals enjoy taking snaps together as they prepare for a night full of dancing.
Before they hit the dance floor they enjoy a round of Karaoke, and before Selena shows off her dance moves in the club.
After a night of partying, the girls break into an apartment complex to go for a night dip in the swimming pool, with Selena plunging into the water still clad in her dress and jewellery.
In the end the ladies end up having a sleepover as Selena ends the song by playfully asking, ‘Well, who’s next?’
The song already enjoyed its number one spot on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs before even being released.
The hit outranked Dolly Parton’s rendition of Let It Be with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, which was trending at number three earlier in the day.
‘Since I’m not quite done with SG3,’ Selena wrote regarding her upcoming album August 17, ‘I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.’
The song was produced by benny blanco and Cashmere Cat and the video was directed by Philip Andelman.
The song was the first teaser of her new music since the Spanish-language EP Revelacion, which was released in March 2021.
And Selena sent fans into a spin with a sassy promotional video on Tuesday, as they claimed it was a message for her ex Justin Bieber.
In the video, the singer mimed along to an iconic scene in Sex And The City when Samantha (Kim Cattrall) answers a phone call from her married lover.
As the male voice was heard saying: ‘It’s over, I told my wife’, Selena mimed the response: ‘Who is this?’
While the clip was shared to promote her new track, Single Soon, her fans were quick to claim it was a message for Justin and his wife Hailey Bieber.
