Selena Gomez has never looked better, and there’s a viral theory that could explain why.
If there’s one thing we can’t seem to escape in 2023 – besides every celebrity couple we love breaking up – it is how good Selena is looking.
Since around July, Selena has been having a fashion moment as often as most of us manage to get around to doing our laundry.
The singer’s recent appearance in Paris at Fashion Week has been a highlight for fashion fans. She’s been spotted wearing gorgeous outfits and looking chic yet sexy.

Selena’s always looked nice, but she’s never been a fashion leader. She’s usually seen as one of those famous people who follows trends and doesn’t make too many embarrassing fashion mistakes.
The worst fashion thing that ever happened to Selena was when she used too much fake tan and turned up to the infamously snobby Met Gala in 2018 and got progressively more orange as the night continued.
It was also very relatable, giving us all flashbacks to how heavy-handed we were with our Bondi Le Sands tan at our Year 10 School Formals.

Selena’s always been passable in fashion, but she’s gone from looking all right to looking incredible and consistently good in 2023.
So what has changed?
Interestingly, it isn’t because she’s suddenly found her fashion feet, but rather, like it always is in Hollywood, it is the people behind the scenes creating the perfect outcome.
For years, Selena worked with renowned New York-based celebrity stylist Kate Young. You might not have heard of her, but she dresses famous women like Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson.
When Kate was dressing the singer, the stylist’s Instagram was often filled with Selena’s fans begging her to stop working for the pop singer.
“Stop styling Selena,” one begged.
“You are not doing Selena justice,” another wrote.
“0/10 styling,” another complained.

While no formal statement has been made, Selena hasn’t appeared on Kate’s Instagram since July.
When Selena was working with Kate, she was known for wearing some questionable looks, often teamed up with quite dramatic make-up.
A great example is that leather dress she wore to the American Music Awards in 2018. It was pretty bulky, and while the idea was a vibe – the result didn’t look that flattering.
It looked more like she’d thrown on her boyfriend’s leather jacket than she’d gotten super glammed up for an awards night.
Plus plenty of fans have remarked that Selena was dressing to old for her age. Wearing twin sets and more old Hollywood looks.
Those days are gone.
She’s now mixed things up and has hired celebrity stylist Erin Walsh, famously known for dressing Anne Hathaway, and fans are loving the results.

Meanwhile under Erin’s influence, she’s switched to more curve-hugging pieces with more neutral make-up, and she’s not shying away from showing off her body.
Selena fans love Erin’s input to the point they are creating TikToks to show their appreciation for how she’s been dressing Selena.
“Thank you, Erin,” someone commented.
“Erin, you are the best! Thanks for saving Selena,” another wrote.
“Her style lately is beautiful, thank god!” another praised.
Plus, Erin’s Instagram is filled with people giving out compliments for her styling work with Selena.
“Selena looks more like Selena since you’ve started dressing her,” one praised.
“Please Erin! Keep dressing our Queen,” another begged.
“Thank you for keeping our Princess rocking,” someone said.
