Love Island star Kady McDermott slammed show over bombshells ahead of villa return – risking ITV bosses’ fury
LOVE Island star Kady McDermott is set to make a sensational return to the villa – but previously hit out at show bosses for putting in too many bombshells.
Kady, 27, rose to fame on the 2016 series of Love Island but is set to return this series – just like Adam Collard last year.
The star’s former comments about Love Island being over-saturated with new Islanders have come back to bite her as she is set to become this series’ most talked-about arrival.
She told The Sun last year: “Love Island producers are obviously trying to put more things into it and more people.
“I feel like last year they put in so many bombshells that were only in a day. I think they should scrap that, I think get less people in and make sure they they’re big characters.
“If you want to do it longer then just don’t cramp too many people in – the whole of the UK will be an Islander soon.”
Kady also felt the ten-week extended series was “too long”.
She said: “Wow 10 weeks they keep longing it out, I don’t know if I could do 10, I did 7 and that was long enough.”
Kady added: “I would say people should be themselves, but it’s hard because people know how big the show is now, everyone in series two was so real.”
“We didn’t know how big it was going to be because it wasn’t that big back when we did it.”
Kady appeared on the second series of Love Island and dated her co-star and on-screen boyfriend, Scott Thomas, for a year after the show.
She used to date former Towie star Myles Bernett, 27.
They first got together in 2018 just weeks after he had broken up with his Towie co-star Courtney Green.
The loved up pair bought their bungalow together within months, but split following a blazing row in August 2019.
Kady then enjoyed a brief romance with Aston Villa footballer Matty Cash but split last year.
She started dating the sports star, 24, over the summer but the couple struggled to make the relationship work long term.
She’s now looking for love again, back in the Love Island villa.
