Their famed Beckingham Palace reportedly had leopard print walls and mirrored ceilings – but the Beckhams’ £12million Cotswold mansion is much more muted and sophisticated.
Viewers got an glimpse into the Soho Farmhouse-inspired home as part of their new Netflix docuseries Beckham – where the couple showed off their very expensive taste and eye for classic designers, hardwood flooring and exposed brick walls.
The couple, who share children Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18, and Harper, 12, snapped up their country retreat for a reported £6.15 million in December 2016.
After the Beckhams’ improvements, the property boasts a sauna, plunge pool, football pitch, gym, swimming pool and £50,000 safari tent in the grounds for entertaining. It is now thought to be worth about £12 million.
‘This is such a step away from any kind of footballer’s home cliché, it’s beautifully curated, smart and yet not flashy,’ interiors expert Benji Lewis told MailOnline.
Here, MailOnline looks at the very lavish home.
Living room with £10,000 sofa and Versailles-style flooring
Many of the scenes shot in the documentary show Posh and Becks chatting to cameras or relaxing in their rustic living room.
In one shot, Victoria is seen lounging on a huge Chesterfield green velvet sofa – estimated to cost around £10,000.
In comes with a footstool at the cost of around £2,900 and a grey armchair at about £4,900.
In another scene, David sits on a grey sofa in front of the fireplace – which likely also costs around £10,000.
A huge drinks cabinet and upmarket lamps complete the room, while family photos adorn the walls.
‘Versailles style parquet flooring will be softer underfoot than stone or polished concrete whilst also providing some acoustic baffling in what could be quite an echo-ey space,’ Benji told FEMAIL.
‘I love the colours in the upholstery in the living room, they’ve stuck to a very earthy feel in here – using dark green, shades of greige, chocolate and grey
‘We know they’re very family focussed, the gallery wall of black and white photos likely comprises pictures of happy times and by using only black frames things look ordered in spite of the random arrangement,’ he added.
£50,000 BBQ tent and outdoor kitchen with £1,000 pizza oven and £8,000 infrared heater
Viewers were later shown the rustic Cotswolds kitchen which is renovated from head to toe, with chic dark grey cupboards complete with gold handles and concealed fridge.
Completing the country aesthetic there is a black double-fronted AGA -costing around £10,000 – as well as traditional pizza oven, which is estimated to cost about £1,000.
A huge pile of firewood ready for the family to rustle up the Italian dish.
They cook in swanky copper pans that hang from the large rack and clean up with designer Daylesford White Stripe Tea Towels (at £7.50 per towel) from it’s namesake and nearby village.
Huge wooden boards were hung up on the exposed brickwork alongside Oak shelves piled high with glassware.
The outdoor kitchen boasts bags of space with a breakfast bar as well as a large leather sofa perfect for the family can gather around the fireplace.
As if two kitchens weren’t enough, the Beckhams also have a £50,000 BBQ tent – from pal Guy Ritchie’s brand Wild Kitchen.
Back in March, David first showed fans inside his latest cooking extravaganza.
The sportsman shared a look inside the epic double tent, which boasts a 12-seat table and BBQ alongside a huge grill.
The ‘double tent’ apparently can host up to 20 guests, however David’s evening appeared to be a more intimate affair as he gave fans a look at what he was cooking.
Sharing a snap of his fish in the grill alongside a hearty portion of vegetables, David revealed that the cooking experience was ‘unbelievable’.
David also shared pictures of the outside of the cooker and claimed it was ‘by far the best fish I’ve ever eaten’.
Clearly impressed by the set-up, the father of four said it was a ‘thing of beauty’, and also said ‘it doesn’t get any prettier’.
Guy Ritchie first unveiled his £50,000 luxury BBQ on the first day of the Chelsea Flower Show in September 2021.
‘They’ve focussed on creating an informal design for the kitchen space, using built-in units along one wall and including a painted antique freestanding cupboard the other side of the bread oven,’ Benji explained.
‘Interestingly for such a polished couple, they’ve been unafraid to choose open shelving and glazed doors; I only propose this to people who are happy to keep things looking well ordered otherwise it just looks messy.
‘The feel they’ve created is smart rustic – blending textures like exposed stone on the walls with polished marble on the worktops and stripped pine on the table creates plenty of interest while using Shaker style kitchen units and antique brass cup handles on the doors is really homely.
‘Using dark colours on kitchen units is a good strong look; by taking a dark colour onto the walls as well, you can really amp up the dramatic feel.
‘The collection of antique bread boards – hung on the wall – whilst clearly not for use, are brilliant as well décor.
‘The use of ambient light is interesting, clearly fond of a table lamp we can see that they also like country feeling gathered shades,’ he added.
A very organised wardrobe, filled with designer gear
David showed off his immaculately organised wardrobe as he spoke about his ‘obsession’ with keeping things in order.
The former footballer – who suffers with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) – gave fans a glimpse into his neat and tidy lifestyle.
The fourth and final episode opened with a throwback clip of David in his teenage years saying he always keeps his room clean, noting ‘I hate an untidy room.’
It then cut to current day as the sportsman, 46, was filmed running his hands across his clothing as he explained: ‘It’s all quite organised, jackets, jean shirts, shirts and then it goes from jumpers, cardis to T-shirts, underwear socks and then suits.’
He revealed that he sorted his jumpers by colour coordination then folded them at angle in order to see what was underneath.
David then showed off a clothes rail as he explained: ‘those are my outfits for the rest of the week, I prep my week. It used to just be the night before.’
Garden with bees and a lake, tennis court, football pitch
Large glass doors open out onto the fantastic lawn where David keeps his bees and produces his own honey.
The farmhouse was their weekend getaway and was converted into a huge family home after extensive renovations.
They even had the help of Marcus Barnett, a three-time Chelsea Flower Show winner, who transformed their garden into a beautiful fairytale oasis.
Pool table and piano as well as outdoor space with swimming pool, and spa with £11,000 Estonian sauna and £1,600 hot tub and tennis courts
The home also has grand pool table – where the Beckham’s no doubt relax, as well as a piano which the children learned to play on.
And unsurprisingly for the sporting family, there is plenty of outdoor place including a full-size football pitch and tennis courts.
And to relax, there is a pergola and an orchard and their luxurious home was also complete with a plunge pool, £11,000 Estonian sauna and £1,600 hot tub.
Their countryside retreat had become a safe haven for them at weekends, away from the hustle and bustle of their £25 million West London mansion.
.Elsewhere on the grounds of their converted barn, there is a wooden plunge pool, and David went full Wim Hof earlier this week with an icy dip.
