He welcomed Lionel Messi into his team as a bumper signing in July.

And Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham proved splashing the cash paid dividends on Sunday, as he watched the football legend help Inter Miami thrash LAFC.

Prior to the match, the Brit, 48, was spotted looking dapper as he appeared in a shirt, tie and suit trousers while leaving a Manhattan Beach hotel alongside Messi before the high-stakes match in the 30th round of Major League Soccer.

Having recently unveiled a buzzcut, David added an edgy touch to the ensemble with his new hairdo as he greeted a female cohort before hitting the match, where Inter Miami won with an incredible 3-1 final score.

During the match, David looked understandably tense while watching the team he co-owns with Jorge Mas, as he frowned while viewing from the side.

Messi’s first Miami game took place on July 21 in the Leagues Cup. Miami has won nine of its last 10 games with Messi’s help.

In welcoming Messi to the team in July, David gave an emotional speech saying: ’10 years ago, I started my journey to build a new MLS team.

‘I said then that I dreamt of bringing the best players in the world Florida and the great city of Miami. Players who shared our ambition to grow soccer in this country, who would inspire the next generation and help build a legacy in this sport.

‘Please forgive me for feeling a little bit emotional tonight. It really is a dream come true to welcome Lionel Messi to Inter Miami. Leo, we are so proud you have chosen this club for the next stage of your career. Welcome to the family.

‘We are also so proud to be joined by the one and only Sergio Busquets. One of the most complete midfield players of his generation.’

Messi meanwhile said: ‘Thank you very much. First of all I want to thank all the people of Miami for this welcome, this affection. I want to thank you for the kindness and love that you have given me. This has happened so fast…
