‘A great evening with my wonderful husband’: Victoria Beckham tweets romantic picture with David at the Met Gala

David and Victoria Beckham looked every inch the power couple as they arrived at the Met Gala in New York on Monday night, hosted by Vogue editor, Anna Wintour.

But despite all the famous faces from fashion, music and film, Victoria was happiest to be with her husband of thirteen years.

She shared a picture of her looking adoringly at David, with the message: ‘So proud to share such a great evening with my wonderful husband x vb #MetGala #CharlesJames’.

Holding hands as they posed for photographs on the red carpet, the stunning couple were the main attraction in their matching white outfits.

Victoria, 40, looked lovely in a white column dress from her own collection and matching white vertiginous heels. She accessorised with diamond drop earrings and a matching bracelet and ring.

Despite the length of her gown and the height of her heels, she glided effortlessly up the steps into the Metropolitan Museum Of Art where the event was being held.

Hand-in-hand: Victoria wore her namesake brand while David wore a white Ralph Lauren Black Label jacket and smart black trousers. Victoria may be dressing up for Buckingham Palace soon if her husband is honoured with a knighthood in the Queen's birthday honours next month

Her handsome husband David, 39, wore a suit jacket in the same hue which he teamed with black trousers and a matching bow-tie.

Wintour – who is co-hosting this year’s party with Sarah Jessica Parker and Bradley Cooper – is charging $25,000 at ticket, $10,000 more than last year’s price.

The theme is White Tie And Decorations, an ode to Anglo-American designer Charles James.

Victoria and David have remained by each other’s sides all day – they were pictured leaving their hotel earlier in the day as they headed out for a spot of lunch together.

Her hair was perfectly styled into loose waves, while David’s locks were hidden under a tweed Baker Boy cap – a favourite style of his.

The heartthrob’s headgear was worn with a simple grey T-Shirt, slim-fitting trousers and chain, as well as chunky brown boots.

Victoria tweeted earlier in the day to say: ‘Good morning NY! Starting the day with MJ and JT ‘love never felt so good’ totally obsessed! X vb’.

Say cheese! Once inside the museum, famed lensman Mario Testino snapped this Instagram of David and Victoria

Before later sharing a snap of a tasty-looking treat from Ladurée, commenting: ‘Kisses from NY’.

David was spotted heading back to his hotel after an earlier jaunt, looking even more relaxed in an Adidas tracksuit and grey wooly hat.

It is not uncommon for people to opt for comfort over style for a flight, but that was certainly not Victoria’s vibe on Sunday.

The former England captain, accompanied by wife Victoria and eldest son Brooklyn, was spotted in the stands at Upton Park, home of West Ham United, as Cruz turned out for Chelsea.

David, himself born in the east end, was happy to oblige one fan with a picture before the same youngster took a selfie as David watched on while Victoria spoke on the phone.

It’s not the first time David has taken time out to support his son on the football field as just last week he watched Cruz win a regional cup final.

The youngster has clearly has his Dad’s footballing genes as he was seen celebrating a spectacular goal with a somersault during the Sunday morning cup match against local rivals.

David and Victoria’s eldest son Brooklyn, who on Sunday was pictured in a Manchester United tracksuit top – one of the many clubs his father used to play for – is also a keen footballer and has had trials with a host of London clubs in the past.
