Fans gush as David Beckham pictured with Lionel Messi and PSG team-mates
David Beckham met up with his former club PSG during their promotional tour of Doha, leaving football fans in awe he posed with fellow legend Lionel Messi and his team-mates
Football fans were in awe at legends of the game crossing paths as David Beckham posed for pictures with Lionel Messi and his PSG team-mates.
Beckham met up with his former Ligue 1 club in Doha, where they are carrying out a promotional tour. He later shared snaps with Messi and Co on his Instagram post, writing: “Always good to catch up with the @PSG family @neymarjr @k.mbappe @leomessi @sergioramos @marco_verratti92.”
The 48-year-old was all smiles next to Kylian Mbappe and Neymar and he shook hands with Messi and Sergio Ramos, who he played two seasons with at Real Madrid.
“Beckham x Ramos is iconic,” one fan commented in amongst thousands of replies, with son Romeo posting two heart eyes emojis. Well over 1million likes rained in within the first 12 hours of the upload.
Beckham finished his career with PSG after a five-month spell in 2013. He later revealed in an interview with Gary Neville that he decided to retire after facing Messi in a Champions League clash against Barcelona.
Was Beckham ever as good as Messi? Let us know in the comments section.
“I probably decided to retire when Messi was running past me,” the former England captain said. “Playing in the MLS in 2012 and winning the championship there and then coming to PSG and winning the French league here, it’s a good way to go out.”
Beckham is now president and co-owner of Inter Miami FC in America. And he’s been linked with a move to sign Messi once his PSG contract expires next year.
The ex-Manchester United winger has previously been asked about that prospect. He said: “Well you know what, we’ve got great opportunities down in Miami.
“We’ve been contacted by a lot of different players over possibly coming to join the team. As with any owner, you really want the best players and if we have the opportunity to bring in players like Cristiano [Ronaldo] or Leo…I have such admiration for them as athletes, if we could bring those players in then great.”
