Erling Haaland tells Logan Paul he would consider heading to MLS ‘for the last couple of years of his career’

Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland won’t be following in Lionel Messi’s footsteps and making his mark in MLS any time soon – but hasn’t ruled it out altogether.

Messimania has already swept through the world of American soccer with the Argentine, 36, already helping Inter Miami lift its first trophy since joining David Beckham’s club in mid-July.

Meanwhile, Haaland took English soccer by storm last season, winning a historic Treble and scoring 52 goals in just 51 appearances for Manchester City.

However, the Norwegian shut down any talk of him following Messi and taking his talent across the Atlantic any time soon.

He insisted that he hadn’t considered an MLS move with his entire soccer career still ahead of him.

But the Manchester City star said that he could end up there before his career is over

‘I’ve not be there much, so it’s difficult to say,’ Haaland said on the ‘Impaulsive’ podcast with Logan Paul and KSI.

‘But I’m 23, people are going over to the MLS and playing football there, I’ve never thought of it because I’m young.’

But Haaland did hint that he would be open to playing in the United States in the future towards the end of his playing days.

‘I’m a footballer, in ten years I’m 33 and I’ve got my last couple of years in football,’ he added.

Haaland’s comments come off the back of his PFA Player of the Year award, which he won following his record-breaking campaign.

In the Premier League last season, he scored 36 goals in 35 games – a new record – making him the unanimous selection to wrestle the PFA gong from Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

By winning the award, voted for by peers, in his debut Premier League season Haaland, who beat team-mates Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones to the trophy, becomes the first overseas player since Ruud van Nistelrooy in the 2001-02 campaign to win it in his debut season.

As well as the three stand-out City players in contention, Haaland also held off competition from Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Harry Kane, now at Bayern Munich, was also nominated for the award.

And, he appeared to credit his bizarre bedtime routine for his success during his appearance on the podcast.

‘I think sleep is the most important thing in the world,’ Haaland said.

‘So to sleep good, simple kind of things blue blocking glasses, shutting out all the signals in the bedroom.

‘To do a lot of things is not good but to do small things every single day for a longer period really pays off.’

In addition to taping his mouth, Haaland says that he regularly uses a sauna.

‘You should try and tape your mouth. I sleep with it.’

‘I have it (a sauna) at my home so I try and do it not every single day but almost every day. Sauna, steam room.’
