David Beckham’s old American truck is set to fetch £45,000 as it is put up for auction
David Beckham’s old American Lincoln Navigator truck – which comes with a personalised number plate – is set to fetch £45,000 at auction along with his famous number 7 shirt
An American truck previously owned by David Beckham is expected to fetch a whopping £45,000 as it is put up for auction along with a signed football shirt.
The former professional footballer, 46, was one of the first people to have a Lincoln Navigator shipped out of the US to the UK during his time as a Manchester United player.
He purchased the gas-guzzling 5.4 litre V8 engine vehicle in 2000 and was regularly seen driving it to the team’s Carrington training ground, until he sold it three years later.
The co-owner of Inter Miami CF has a longtime love for American cars and purchased a valuable collection of luxury US motors when he joined LA Galaxy.
Now, car enthusiasts will have the chance to snap up David’s former prized possession as it goes on auction at Mullock’s Auctioneers in Shropshire next Thursday, where it is expected to fetch between £35,000 and £45,000.
The car’s current and second owner, who bought the car off David in 2003 – the year he left to join Real Madrid – is selling it following a complete restoration.
It comes with a special number plate featuring the initials of David, Victoria and their eldest son Brooklyn, [W77 DVB] – who was a baby at the time, and an original V5 signed by Victoria Beckham.
Also included in the sale is a signed match-worn shirt which David wore during Manchester United v Panathinaikos in the Champions League on November 21, 2000.
It is signed on the reverse ‘Best Wishes David Beckham’ and is expected to make between £4,000-6,000.
David purchased the seven-seater car for £45,000 in 2000 and a club source reportedly said at the time: ‘It is a monster, he must feel like the king of the road. No one else at United has a car from the US. It’s something else.’
The left hand drive motor – classed as a truck in the US – has a 300bhp, does 0-60mph in eight seconds and comes with privacy glass and 20-inch chrome wheels.
The vehicle, which comes with a wood and leather trim and only has 45,000 miles on the clock, boasted climate controlled seats and a satellite navigation system back in 2000.
The current owner has added other features including no key entry, a user programmable keypad, anti-lock brakes and adjustable brake and accelerator pedals.
A Mullock’s Auctioneers spokesman said: ‘A top of the range vehicle from Ford at the time, the Lincoln was considered the showpiece model and one that was worthy of celebrity status.
‘This particular model is loaded with luxury extras from a numeric code entry to front doors, to a roof mounted DVD player, heated seats, power pedals and much more.
‘No expense was spared in order to ensure that the restoration was of a very high standard.
‘The chrome wheels were replaced some years previously but every effort was made to source appropriate American replacements.
‘Tyres are as new and thus with relatively low mileage for its age mechanically this vehicle has many years of service life left.
‘Lincoln advertises that these engines are good for 100,000 miles without a major service.’
David has a lavish fleet of fast American cars and recently bought his son Brooklyn a vintage $500,000 Jaguar as a wedding present.
The petrolhead recently post a snap of the lavish car on his Instagram stories, joking he ‘should have kept it’.
Brooklyn, 23, tied the knot with his actress fiancée Nicola Peltz earlier this month in a luxurious ceremony on the Peltz’s sprawling £76million estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
David shared a snap behind the wheel of the $500,000 1954 Jaguar with Victoria, writing: ‘Should have kept this car it’s soooo good @lunazdesign please make me one. Happy Birthday mama @victoriabeckham.’
He is an investor of restoration company Lunaz which electrified and re-engineered the 1954 Jaguar XK140, having taken a a 10 percent stake in June 2021.
The InterMiami FC president requested for the car to be painted a light blue, however asked that his name for the unique colour would remain confidential.
It is the product of thousands of hours of work from the company’s 120 strong team of craftspeople, designers and Electric Vehicle (EV) technicians and was built entirely in-house at the home of Lunaz in Silverstone, England.
The sustainable trend sees Lunaz tear out engines which pollute our atmosphere and replace them with zero exhaust emissions batteries and electric motors.
David Lorenz, Founder & CEO of Lunaz said: ‘In creating this beautiful, electrified Jaguar XK140, we are honoured to bridge the gap between David Beckham’s professional life, where he is an investor in Lunaz and his family life.
‘This remarkable car is the perfect gift to his son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law, Nicola on their wedding day. In every respect, this extraordinary electric classic car by Lunaz symbolises a bright, positive future.’
Becks followed in the footsteps of the Daily Telegraph owners, the Barclay family and the property billionaire Reuben brothers – second in the Sunday Times list of Britain’s wealthiest – who are all members of the firm’s board.
David’s representative confirmed Lunaz’s claims were true when contacted by MailOnline.
David also owns a Maserati MC20, which he designed himself, and starred in a promotion video for the brand.
David has said of designing the car: ‘I have always been a car enthusiast. It has been incredible to collaborate with the Maserati team and designers to create this one-off car that is inspired by my second home, Miami, and my football club. It is a joy to be behind the wheel.’
Among his convoy of supercars he has boasted over the years are a £140,000 exclusive Jaguar sports car, £80,000 Audi, Cadillac Escalade, a Jeep Wrangler and a £200,000 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti as well as a collection of motorcycles.
