Heidi Klum & Daughter Leni Klum, 18, Face Backlash Over ‘Weird’ Lingerie Ad
Model Heidi Klum and her 18-year-old daughter, Leni Klum, are facing some backlash for their latest lingerie ad.
Although the “America’s Got Talent” judge, 49, disabled comments on her Instagram post, Leni’s behind-the-scenes video and the Italian brand Intimissimi’s post got considerable pushback from fans, with some labeling it “weird” and others calling it “very disturbing.”
Heidi Klum & Daughter Leni Klum, 18, Are Getting Fans Hot & Bothered With Their New Lingerie Ad… and Not In A Good Way!
Earlier this week, Leni posted a 30-second behind-the-scenes video that showed her and her famous mom dancing, singing, and posing in lingerie as they posed for the brand’s new ad campaign. Although some fans praised the two women as “beautiful,” others felt a bit differently.
“Imagine shooting a lingerie commercial with your mom 😬,” one follower commented. “Isn’t that weird?” another user asked. “Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird to see mother and daughter dancing around half naked 😅😅😅,” a third fan asked.
“That’s pretty weird mother and daughter posing in underwear together,” another follower chimed in. “Really weird. Mother and daughter dancing around in lingerie. Really weird,” another user added. “I love these women but this campaign doesn’t make me want to buy. It’s off-putting. Who dances half-naked with their mom?”
‘Like mother and daughter. Every woman has a special place in her heart for her favourite lingerie.’
The brand posted a photo of the famous mother-daughter-duo on Instagram standing side by side with their arms around each other. The brand captioned the post, “Like mother and daughter. Every woman has a special place in her heart for her favourite lingerie.”
However, some fans still weren’t having it. “Kinda weird when mother and daughter pose together in lingerie😂,” one user wrote. “the photo is weird and the caption makes it weirder lol,” another follower added. “Sorry but this is weird,” a third user chimed in. “I would be so dang embarrassed if Heidi Klum was my mother. A mother who refuses to grow up gracefully, teaching her offspring to do the same. I’d end up running away from home and never look back. Despicable,” another follower shared.
Other users had different problem with the brand. “Say, the ladies are great, but do you really think most of us, your customers, identify with them?” one user asked. “What about showing us less models and more reality? Do you really think that showing expensive models with insta lives makes 9-5 working women spend more of their hard-earned cash on your products?”
Another customer also had a problem with the lingerie itself. “Why are they still selling that black and white lace set?” they asked. “I had it for years now. I feel like it’s been in their campaign every year. So strange that they wouldn’t come up with something new?”
Regardless, some fans were supportive of Leni furthering her modeling career by posing beside her mother. “Okay people need to chill dafuq out. The lingerie is not risque and looks like a modern day bathing suits,” one user commented.
“I see nothing wrong with this, nothing disturbing,” another follower agreed. “Beautiful ladies! Nothing disturbing here! The only disturbances are people that think this is disturbing pic.😍👏,” another fan chimed in.
Heidi Klum Fully Supports Her Daughter Leni Going Off To College In New York City
Leni’s modeling career first began when she appeared beside her mother on the cover of German Vogue in 2020, when she was still in high school. She then made her runway debut eight months later when she appeared in Dolce & Gabbana’s 2021 Alta Mode show in Italy and has appeared in several other fashion shows since then.
In June, Leni graduated from the Pacifica Christian High School in Santa Monica before heading off to New York City to start studying fashion two months later.
In an August 2022 interview with ET, the proud mom-of-four couldn’t help but gush over her eldest daughter going off to college. “I am [so proud]. You know, she has her head screwed on right,” the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model said.
“Right now, college is on top of the list,” she continued. “It’s not modeling and she’s really excited for that next chapter in her life.”
