Eugenie Bouchard celebrates Canada Day with gorgeous sun-kissed bikini post
The Canadian tennis player sported a blue bikini as she celebrated Canada Day poolside days after being bounced out of Wimbledon in the first round of qualifying
Tennis darling Eugenie Bouchard celebrated Canada Day in style as she donned a elegant blue bikini while relaxing on a sun lounger.
The 29-year-old has over 2.4million followers on Instagram and she treated her loyal fans to quite the gorgeous post as she wished a Happy Canada Day which was accompanied by a stunning selfie.
The tennis ace paired the blue bikini top with a matching bucket hat as she wrote “Happy Canada Day lovies!!!” on a day that celebrates the anniversary of the Canadian Confederation, when Canada was unified into one dominion in 1867.
Bouchard is just a few days removed from her disappointing defeat at Wimbledon that saw her get knocked out in the first round of qualifying.
The loss was a damaging one to her confidence, considering it’s almost nine years to the day where she made her first and only Grand Slam final appearance in 2014 at the All England Club.
Despite losing the match to two-time Wimbledon champ, Petra Kvitova, it looked like the beginning of a blossoming career for the 20-year-old but injuries and form have hampered her progress.
Bouchard recently returned from a 17-month injury layoff and she spoke about her own personal troubles and commented on Emma Raducanu, who underwent surgery on both hands and her ankle in May.
“I feel for her [Raducanu] in the sense.
“She has a great life, she’s set for life and she’s had great achievements. But I can understand a little bit, possibly the pressure, the scrutiny.”
As Wimbledon commences tomorrow (July 3), a new rule allowing players to wear dark-coloured underwear for the first time ever has come into effect.
It’s an attempt to offer relief to the period anxiety some female players have but not all players will abide by the new rule.
Ons Jabeur, who was the runner-up at last year’s final, pledged to wear no underwear but praised the tournament organisers for their forward-thinking approach.
The Tunisian said: “I don’t think I’m going to wear anything. If all the girls will wear it, I think it will make it better. But I think it’s a great thing that Wimbledon is trying to help women feel more comfortable on the court.”
