EXCLUSIVE: Olivia Attwood reveals plans to film the birth of her first child for TV but admits she’s too ‘obsessed’ with her career to have a baby right now
Olivia Attwood has revealed she plans to film the birth of her first child for her reality TV show – but admits she’s too ‘obsessed’ with her career to have a baby right now.
The former Love Island star, 32, told MailOnline she would like to share the intimate moment with her loyal fanbase after capturing her wedding for Olivia Marries Her Match.
In an exclusive interview Olivia explained that being a newlywed and in her early 30s often raises the question as to whether she will start a family with husband Bradley Dack, 29.
Following the success of her documentary series Getting Filthy Rich and third instalment of her ITVBe show, Olivia says she’s yet to wake up thinking of babies but if she does fall pregnant in the future, she will film her labour for TV.
She said: ‘The idea of filming my birth is scary but yes in some capacity it would be natural to share that, and I’d want to. I think that would be fun and the viewers would have grown up with me and to see me making life would be really cool.’
Olivia continued: ‘I know a lot of women don’t like being asked about children and I understand that so I can’t speak for other people.
‘But for me personally I don’t mind being asked because when you share so much of your life, and I let people ask me everything so it would be weird for me to then say, “you can’t ask me that.”
‘I am in my 30s and it does get jarring to be asked that question again and again as a woman, but I understand why people do.
‘For me, I am so obsessed with my career right now and so obsessed with Brad that I don’t wake up thinking about kids, but I know that might change and I will want them someday.’
Olivia’s glamorous wedding, held in June at five-star hotel the Bulgari in London’s Knightsbridge, featured a bespoke £30,000 lace-sleeved bridal gown by designer Galia Lahav, 10,000 roses, and a 10-tier cake, with the star since admitting that the entire event cost the couple £200,000.
Describing the day as ‘magical’, Olivia says she has no regrets about not having any bridesmaids and asking her guests to wear all black.
She said: ‘I decided to have black because I was thinking aesthetically about how I wanted the room to look, and I thought with pink roses it would look so cool and dramatic.
‘I thought having the theme would stop anyone turning up in some rogue, hideous, fluorescent yellow dress that would send my OCD out the window in photos.
‘I didn’t do bridesmaids because I have a really big friendship group from different stages in my life and when we tried to sit down to do it, myself and Brad, someone always ended up upset. It would have been so much extra admin.
‘Girls can be hard work. I made my life easier by not having bridesmaids and I’m happy with the decision… I don’t regret it at all.’
Olivia Marries Her Match will show the moment Bradley saw his bride for the first time, as the footballer who’s recently signed a new contract with Sunderland struggled to keep his composure.
But Olivia says the tension was broken when she almost caught her dress walking down the aisle and the emotional couple laughed as she avoided the slip-up.
She said: ‘Brad was holding back tears as I walked down the aisle. It got me a lot more than I thought it would.
‘I was about to cry but as I got up the stairs, I struggled a bit with my dress, and I actually thought for a second I was going to be stuck so I laughed and then Brad laughed. But walking down the aisle was definitely the most emotional part for me by far.’
Known for her wild partying, Olivia admits she ‘physically cringes’ watching back the footage from her hen do in Ibiza, but when it came to her wedding day, she was one of the first in bed… and not to consummate her marriage to Brad.
She said: ‘It feels really lame to say but the truth is no… I was asleep before Brad had even got changed… I was so tired.
‘It was a wild party with lots of dancing and then it got to 1am and it was almost like the adrenaline had left my body and I was a walking zombie.
‘People stayed dancing until 4am but at my own wedding I did a back door exit. The lead up, the nerves, and talking to everyone all day… I was literally so drained.’
This week viewers will see Olivia out in full force celebrating the end of her single days with her Ibiza hen.
But the TV star won’t be reliving the experience saying that while she chose to keep in her most drunken scenes for her fans, she can’t bear to watch herself back.
She said: ‘I feel like people will watch it and say that it’s old school Liv, even though I am still the same person, but I just go out a lot less.
‘I was watching it in the edit and I thought ‘oh my God’ when it gets to us doing tattoos we just look so f*****, we have all these weird outfits on, my makeup is s***, my tan is patchy, but that’s what Ibiza is like… it all starts off fine and then it just gets messy.
‘There’s hours of footage and it’s trying to cut it down into the best bits but to be fair I was looking at the edit with the team and they said “look it’s your call how much you want to go in” but I said even though I’m cringing myself out… this is what people want to see.
‘But I won’t be watching it again. I physically cringe. I was covering my face and I asked Brad, “are you embarrassed of me”‘ And he said, “sometimes but you’re alright” and I’m watching it and thinking, there’s something wrong with me… but I know he secretly loves it.’
- Olivia Marries Her Match continues on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week at 9pm on ITVBe and ITVX
