2023 Met Gala: Amanda Seyfried is nearly NAKED in see-through minidress made up of chains in NYC
Amanda Seyfried is nearly NAKED in see-through minidress made up of layers of shimmering silver chains to the 2023 Met Gala in New York City
Amanda Seyfried took a major fashion risk in a see-through minidress made up of layers of just shimmering silver chains to the 2023 Met Gala, honoring the late legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, in New York City.
While decked out in her daring thigh-skimming frock from Oscar de la Renta, and jewelry from Cartier, the 37-year-old Big Love star turned heads as she strutted up the museum’s iconic staircase in a pair of open-toed metallic gold pumps.
As she attended the prestigious and glamorous fashion event, known as ‘fashion’s biggest night,’ for the fourth time, the mother-of-two turned heads in her racy ensemble, draped in crystals and and a subtle mesh-insert to preserve her modesty, which showcased her incredibly toned legs.
The performer, who won her first Golden Globe earlier this year for her starring role as Elizabeth Holmes in Hulu’s The Dropout, styled her golden blonde tresses in voluminous tight curls that cascaded down her back.
For her makeup, the Mean Girls alum turned to her long-time beauty pro Genevieve Herr, who used products from Lancome to create a 70s-inspired look for the evening.
‘The inspiration was Karl Lagerfeld’s designs for Chloe in the 70s; the big curly hair of the time, the deep saturated lip, and smokey eyes with a modern twist of color instead of black and very little blush,’ Genevieve revealed – explaining that the bold lip color was created using the Lancome Le Lip Liner in Caprice under the brand’s L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Berry Intense.
To ensure Amanda’s complexion looked perfect all night long, the beauty pro used the Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24H Full Coverage Foundation and the Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Full Coverage Concealer, adding just a light touch of the Blush Subtil to the apples of the cheeks for a ‘subtle flush of color’.
On the eyes, Genevieve used shades from the Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Fraicheur Rosee, then added definition with the Le Crayon Khôl Eyeliner Pencil and the Lash Idôle Mascara.
Despite oozing confidence at the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit, Seyfried admitted in December that still gets nervous on the red carpet.
‘I really enjoy experimenting with fashion on photoshoots, but the red carpet is a different animal; it’s very brief and it’s very frantic,’ she explained to Harper’s Bazaar.
The Oscar nominee continued: ‘You don’t really have enough time. When I’m on a shoot, it feels more like acting – it’s more about the art in fashion, which is really fun for me.’
‘You can take as long as you like to feel comfortable and make the clothing work for you, which just isn’t really the case on the red carpet,’ Pennsylvania native, who is married to Thomas Sadoski, noted.
Seyfried then praised her longtime stylist Elizabeth Stewart for being ‘so savvy’ and ‘amazing’ at finding her ‘pieces that she knows’ suit her.
‘She has these incredible relationships with designers,’ the actress insisted. ‘She understands what will look good on my body and she knows my boundaries with fashion, and I am so grateful for that.’
Over the years, Seyfried said she has begun to prioritize comfort over everything.
‘I think my style has really always stayed in one place – it has evolved here and there and of course my body has changed when I’ve had kids, but I have always been one to wear sweatpants as often as I can,’ she mused.
The star also said jeans are a staple in her wardrobe and if something ‘works for’ her she doesn’t ‘move away from it.’
‘I live on a farm for the most part now – no one is photographing me, so I just dress how I want,’ she pointed out.
Seyfried said she aspires to keep her style ‘timeless’ and to avoid ‘trends’ but acknowledged she might ‘just not brave enough’ just yet.
‘I think that embracing what truly feels like you, and what you feel comfortable in is how you look your best,’ she concluded.
Margot Robbie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Hudgens, Lily James, and Miranda Kerr and Gigi Hadid are also among the faces who will be at the Met Gala.
Additionally, Dr. Dre, and Nick Jonas are expected on the carpet when the festivities begin.
The Met Gala returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday evening, with cameos that included everyone from Sydney Sweeney to Paris Hilton.
Since 1948, stars have ascended the majestic staircase into a very exclusive party where no selfies are allowed.
In keeping with tradition, the event will be held on the first Monday of May. It is scheduled to begin at 6:30PM EST on May 1, 2023.
Fans can watch the event unfold in real-time via a livestream on Vogue.
This year, the ball’s theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. The late German designer was Chanel’s long-time creative director. He passed at age 85 in 2019.
His beloved cat, Choupette, has even been invited to the festivities.
The decision to honor Karl has sparked controversy given the many offensive remarks he has made over the years, from slamming the #MeToo movement to opposing same-sex marriage.
‘I’m against it for a very simple reason: In the 60s they all said we had the right to the difference. And now, suddenly, they want a bourgeois life,’ he told Vice of same-sex marriage.
‘It’s difficult to imagine—one of the papas at work and the other at home with the baby. How would that be for the baby? I don’t know. I see more lesbians married with babies than I see boys married with babies. And I also believe more in the relationship between mother and child than in that between father and child.’
While he ultimately showed his support for same-sex marriage at his spring 2013 Chanel haute couture show, he still said he was ‘less keen’ on same-sex couples adopting children, according to AP.
Along with the Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, who runs and hosts the annual event, the 2023 MET Gala will also be co-hosted by Penelope Cruz, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel and also Roger Federer.
While the show may be known for its glitzy and over-the-top red carpet – with details of what occurs inside often remaining mysterious – at its heart, it is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
Last year, the 2022 MET Gala alone raised a grand total of $17.4 million, reported Billboard.
This year the price of admission has been raised from $30,000 to $50,000, according to Page Six.
Even if you have the funds, that doesn’t guarantee you entry into the party.
Every guest has to be invited, and a waiting list exists for the coveted golden ticket.
And status matters, according to The New York Times.
Paris Hilton is among the big names attending in what will be her first Met Gala.
Meanwhile, Blake Lively, a frequent attendee, announced she will not be at the party.
‘I will be watching,’ she said, according to People.
Elle Fanning, Kardashian and La La Anthony are among the other celebs attending.
As for Wintour’s role in the bash, Vogue’s editor-in-chief organizes the party and oversees the guest list and even the menu.
She has served as the Met Gala’s chairwoman since 1994 and continues to serve look after look at every event.
